On Friday the Obama Administration requested the Supreme
Court not to exempt Catholic groups from the ObamaCare requirement to offer
contraceptive coverage. The argument was over religious beliefs, allowing a
reprieve for the “Little Sisters of the Poor Home of the Aged.” Now, the Obama
Administration is pushing the Supreme Court to negate the reprieve.
Prior to the effect of the Obamacare going into law,
Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayer issued a stay, preventing the government
from enforcing the contraceptive mandate. The Catholic nuns had argued the
contraceptive coverage requirement violates their religious beliefs. To get
around the mandate, a “permission slip”, authorizing others to provide the
contraceptives and “abortion drugs”. Either this or pay a fine.
The Obama administration says. religious nonprofit
groups such of this one can certify that they don’t want to provide
contraceptive coverage, and it would be up to a third party administrator to
decide whether to provide it.
